We have also been looking at the rhyming pattern in a limerick. We discovered that lines 1, 2 and 5 all rhyme, and so do lines 3 and 4. This means they have a rhyming pattern of AABBA. Aren't we clever?
Today we finished our first limerick. What do you think?
There once was a boy called Zack
Who was wearing black
He was wearing a frown
He was going to town
Because he had a sore back
by Zan
There once was a girl called Jane
She was riding on a train
The train was pink
She wanted a drink
The train was going to Spain
by Abigail
There once was a boy named Jake
His pig liked to eat lots of cake
He had a big pig
The cake was big
He threw his big pig in the lake
by Lachie
There once was a boy called Sam
Who went to the beach and found a clam
He caught it with a net
and got it for his pet
and fed it lots of raspberry jam
by Preston
There once was a man called Ray
He liked to play
In a pirate ship
He had a sore lip
And it was a Friday
by Mahina
There once was a boy called Nick
Who had a big kick
It went in the ring
He was a king
and lived in a castle made of brick
by Aakash
Of course I had to have a go too. Here is this week's poem of the week for Room 12:
There was a teacher called Miss O'Neill
She liked to drive her red automobile
The tyres were flat!
She was as mad as a bat!
Where will she find another wheel?
